Local home builder introduces its traditionally built T-130 home

Barker homes, a local home building company in the greater New Orleans area, is proud to announce the debut of the T-130 Home.  Barker Homes held a press conference on April 20, 2007 at 7601 West Judge Perez Drive in Arabi.  At the press conference, Barker Homes introduced the T-130 Home, which is able to withstand winds of 130 miles per hour.

“Our T-130 Home has exceptional strength and durability, and it can withstand the power of a storm,” says Barker Homes president Carol Barker.  “We want to help our friends and neighbors come home, so we designed a quality home that would give them peace of mind.”

Developed over the course of several years, the T-130 Home was designed by some of the most talented and experienced architects, design specialists and builders in the region.  The T-130 Home can withstand the strong winds of a hurricane, and can be elevated to nine feet to protect the home in the event of a flood.  Designers have also incorporated a solid steel foundation system to help protect the home’s wooden structure from termites and the humid subtropical climate of Louisiana. The T-130 Home, which is not modular, is built on-site from the ground up in only 11 weeks. 

“People are amazed that we’re able to build a new T-130 Home in a matter of weeks,” says Barker.  “I’m glad our friends and neighbors can come home quickly to such a quality, affordable home,” she adds.

The T-130 Home has more than astounding structural integrity, as the home features multiple design options and architectural features familiar to the New Orleans area.  Additionally, Barker Homes uses local vendors and members of the local workforce to build the T-130 Home, thereby supporting the local community.
